the future

It all begins with a vision…

We want to be able to employ a true company of singers on an annual basis, offering a variety of work and training to emerging artists on a proper salary, with all the benefits that entails.

The recent pandemic, as well as Brexit, have cast a harsh spotlight on the difficult reality of a career in the arts, particularly in classical music.  These international and political crises have urged us to consider how we want to employ artists and what our long-term goals should be.   As a small company, it is currently financially impossible to realise our vision; but we would like to state it here:

We want to be able to employ a true company of singers on an annual basis, offering a variety of work and training to emerging artists on a proper salary with all the benefits that entails - holiday pay, sick pay etc.  We believe that this will also encourage true diversity and attract artists from different social backgrounds with striking and individual artistic voices.

So many excellent artists have been forced out of the industry in the past year because they have realised that the risks involved in working the theatre are too great.

Our vision will take time and funding to realise; but we believe that not only should opera be accessible to any audience, but it should be a viable career for anyone with talent and commitment, regardless of their circumstances.
